Job Description


Position: Quantity Surveyor

Experience: 8–12 Years

Industry: Construction / Contracting


Role Purpose

The Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for managing all cost, commercial, and contractual aspects of construction projects, ensuring effective cost control, accurate measurement, timely payments, and strong subcontractor management throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Accurately check, measure, and verify quantities from drawings and site measurements in line with project specifications and BOQs
  2. Prepare, issue, and manage subcontractor work orders, ensuring clear scope definition, contractual compliance, and alignment with project schedules
  3. Conduct price negotiations and contractual discussions with subcontractors to achieve commercially competitive and fair agreements
  4. Identify, prepare, and submit variation claims, provisional sum (PSum) bifurcations, and prime cost (PC) adjustments, supported by detailed justifications and documentation
  5. Prepare and submit interim payment applications with complete supporting documents
  6. Maintain and regularly update Procurement Logs, Variation Logs, and PSum Logs for control, tracking, and audit purposes
  7. Maintain and update the approved vendor and subcontractor database
  8. Attend client, consultant, subcontractor, and supplier meetings as required
  9. Assist in budget preparation, cost planning, and cost monitoring, including forecasting and financial reporting
  10. Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of QS and commercial functions into project execution


Requirements & Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  2. 8–12 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
  3. Strong knowledge of construction methods, contracts, BOQs, and cost control practices
  4. Proven experience in subcontractor procurement and commercial management
  5. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
  6. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
